From Exceptional Collections to Motivic Decompositions via Noncommutative Motives

چکیده

Making use of noncommutative motives we relate exceptional collections (and more generally semi-orthogonal decompositions) to motivic decompositions. On one hand we prove that the Chow motive M(X )Q of every smooth and proper Deligne-Mumford stack X , whose bounded derived category D(X ) of coherent schemes admits a full exceptional collection, decomposes into a direct sum of tensor powers of the Lefschetz motive. Examples include projective spaces, quadrics, toric varieties, homogeneous spaces, Fano threefolds, and moduli spaces. On the other hand we prove that if M(X )Q decomposes into a direct direct sum of tensor powers of the Lefschetz motive and moreover D(X ) admits a semi-orthogonal decomposition, then the noncommutative motive of each one of the pieces of the semi-orthogonal decomposition is a direct sum of ⊗-units. As an application we obtain a simplification of Dubrovin’s conjecture. Dedicated to Yuri Manin, on the occasion of his 75 birthday.

Noncommutative Artin Motives

In this article we introduce the category of noncommutative Artin motives as well as the category of noncommutative mixed Artin motives. In the pure world, we start by proving that the classical category AM(k)Q of Artin motives (over a base field k) can be characterized as the largest category inside Chow motives which fully-embeds into noncommutative Chow motives. Making use of a refined bridg...

Noncommutative Numerical Motives, Tannakian Structures, and Motivic Galois Groups

In this article we further the study of noncommutative numerical motives, initiated in [30, 31]. By exploring the change-of-coefficients mechanism, we start by improving some of the main results of [30]. Then, making use of the notion of Schur-finiteness, we prove that the category NNum(k)F of noncommutative numerical motives is (neutral) super-Tannakian. As in the commutative world, NNum(k)F i...

Se p 20 09 Motives for elliptic modular groups

In order to study the arithmetic structure of elliptic modular groups which are the fundamental groups of compactified modular curves with cuspidal base points, these truncated Malcev Lie algebras and their direct sums are considered as elliptic modular motives. Our main result is a new theory of Hecke operators on these motives which gives a congruence relation to the Galois action, and a moti...

Rigid local systems and relative motives with Galois group G 2

We construct a relative mixed motive whose `-adic realizations give rise to Galois representations of the absolute Galois group of Q whose images are isomorphic to the exceptional groups of Lie-type G2(Z`), if ` is a prime ≥ 5. The method of construction relies on Katz’ motivic description of rigid local systems with quasi-unipotent local monodromy.

Galois symmetries of fundamental groupoids and noncommutative geometry

We define a Hopf algebra of motivic iterated integrals on the line and prove an explicit formula for the coproduct ∆ in this Hopf algebra. We show that this formula encodes the group law of the automorphism group of a certain noncommutative variety. We relate the coproduct ∆ with the coproduct in the Hopf algebra of decorated rooted plane trivalent trees, which is a plane decorated version of t...
